Hey everybody!!!!
So, everybody knows Rhett Butler. If you know Rhett, you probably also know Ashley. George Ashley Wilkes. (I don't know why he didn't go by George, its a much more manly name.) If you know Ashley, you know Stuart and Brent Tarleton. They know Frank Kennedy. There's also Charles Hamilton, Cade Calvert, Alex & Tony Fontaine, and Hugh Elsing. And the list goes on and on. Which GWTW guy would you want in your life?

(I personally like Rhett... of course hahah... and the Tarleton twins. :)

This is soooo funny. I just wrote two things on Yahoo Answers. Tell me what you think ;).

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aru9heY.xI.M3wMt4choOn0jzKIX;_ylv=3?qid=20121029204606AAHP3zK

I look forward to your response :). They both show my view on Rhett Butler and Ashley Wilkes and "Gentlemen in the story" based on what I read so far.

My response to the first one:
I agree with you, Ashley is too weak for Scarlett. They did not suit each other at all. I do think that Ashley was sissified in the movie (although I didn't like him too much in the book either) and Leslie Howard was not the right choice to play him. He was more of a gentleman in the book but was never a true gentleman, for he lusted after Scarlett while being married to Melanie. And he didn't have any gumption, that's what irritated me the most about him.
Second response:
Okay. Well my first reaction is that Rhett was played by Clark Gable. CLARK. GABLE. One of the most attractive men ever to walk this Earth. So, that makes women love him 100 times more. And Ashley is weak.. mentally. He dies inside after the war, while Rhett is a millionaire (money also makes men more attractive) and is making the best of things. And about slavery.. how does the asker know that Rhett would own slaves? He never owned any in the book and had respect for African Americans. (ex-Mammy)
And Rhett is also stronger physically. He's more 'manly' than Ashley in many aspects. That makes him 'sexier' also. And he does what he wants, when he wants. And he gets it. (with the exception of Scarlett). And the only reason he is cruel to her towards the end of the book is because she is being equally cruel to him (but as the book is told mostly from Scarlett's POV many readers don't realize it) and he didn't want to expose his weakness. At the very end, he is broken and completely numb and void of all emotion because of Bonnie's passing. That's why (in my opinion) he leaves Scarlett. He doesn't think he love again after what happened to Bonnie. But, okay. To put it in simple words: 1) CLARK. GABLE. 2)He's rich and handsome I mean what more do you need 3)He's masculine and gets what he wants 4)All the other girls swoon over him which makes him more attractive 5) Did I mention Clark Gable? :)
Also, when people say "I want my Rhett Butler," I think what they really mean is that they want someone to love them as much Rhett loves Scarlett... someone to be as perfect for them as Scarlett was for Rhett. And yeah.
Hope I gave an adequate response! And thanks for commenting and visiting my website!

Personally I would rather be Rhett;he is the epitome of Leo Moon ; albeit Nastier than the typical one (continue reading) and he is also the epitome of Scorpio Rising-which I'm both!!!

As a friend though I honestly would get better along with Ashley;at least in the first two parts of the story (I got past page 200). But by late in the story, I would definitely have gotten along well wthe person Rhett came out (I really do understand's Rhett's feelings during previous attempts to read Wind but end of skipping through my favorite scenes from the movie). He's shows just the kind of character development us Scorpio Risers go through!!!

I understand what women mean when they say they want a man who can love them like Rhett Butler. Us Leo Moon men are the favorite of the Opposite Sex because in addition to being blessed with movie star glamarous looks and merry charm,; we possess one thing:

WE ARE the MOST SINCERE LOVERS of the Moon Signs. Yes we're often womanizers but once we found someone we commit to, we won't dare cheat on them and we would treat our lovers uxorious-to the point that a number of us with strong romantic placements (Venus in Pisces, etc) would WORSHIP our LOVER provided they share in return such affection for us <3....

I have no doubt Rhett would have treated Scarlet like a Goddess had she opened her eyes and gave at least a small portion of sincere love back.

Oh I'm creating a Gone WIth the Wind "Astrological Profile analysis". Unfortunately Mitchell never stated their birthdates so I cannot get an actual true calculation. But I can easily match them with placements of their Basic 3s (Rising Sign, Sun Sign, Moon Sign) easily.

I can already state undoubtedly at this point in the story that:

Rhett:Taurus Sun, Leo Moon, Scorpio Rising (I know for sure I got the last 2 100% because I AM BOTH a Leo Moon and a Scorpio Rising as mentioned earlier).

Scarlet: Aries Moon, Scorpio Sun, Pisces Rising.

A special note on Scarlet-Astrology is what got me back into GONE WITH THE WIND. Linda Goodman in her book Sun Signs state Scarlet is the epitome of the Aries woman. I was immediately reminded of Gone With the Wind and evetnually I felt the need to give the story another shot (this time reading from start to end rather than skipping hundreds of pages in the book).

I disagree Scarlet is an Aries in the book at least (no doubt she's an Aries int he movie as she's sooooo damn impulsive). I really think she's a Scorpio Sun-she retains too much self-control and is ridiculously self centered to be an Aries. However she (as you read her thoughts) definitely has the emotional logiic of an Aries hence Moon in Aries.

I know I'm sounding nonesenese but I'll be more than happy to explain to you (email me) of the Basic 3s and I'll be more than happy to calculate yours!!!!

I'd post it here but it would make the thread tooo wayy of topic.

Oh a favor-once I finish Gone WIth the Wind I already stated I'll be making an Astrological Personality analysis. Can I post it here on your site once I make it (I'll send it to you first to let you decide if its good enough)?

Also when you get a chance pick up Linda Goodman's Sun Signs and at the very least read the section on "Aries Woman". I'd like to ask if you agree with Goodman (I disagree she's Aries Sun as mentioned earlier but she definitely has a powerful Aries placement).

My email is attached to this post (I don't like sharing it publicly) so if you're curious feel free to email me and I'll get started explaining you ;).

I believe you have Scarlett wrong. She is an Aries with a scorpio moon and Leo rising like Linda Goodman herself. Do red about Aries with Scorpio Moon women. We hold on to dreams of a lover just out of reach for yrs, and we can invest money and run buisnesses, but we are chatty and light and talkative and innocent and any manipulation we try to put into place when we are hurt or jealous we suffer from. We dont get wrapped up in it just like Scarlett. I have many Scorpio friends w Aries moons. They are the opposite. They appear quiet and mysterious like a scorpio, their manipulations are always unnoticed and successful but inside they are uncomplicated and want the best for people and are very optimistic. Aries w a scorpio moon is impulsive but determined..they have follow through like Scarlett but retain Aries good heartedness and naivete. They are also a bit more femine in apearance than another Aries. The leo rising is obvious. Shes a star. She dresses well. She likes to live in lush surroundings. A normal Aries/Scorpio isnt that grand or vain.

I Like Rhett with Scorpio Rising but how about him being a Sag Sun leo moon? Hes independent, hes constantly traveling. He rescues her and then takes off to fight the war on principle leaving her to holding the reins! NO Leo or taurus lover could do that to me! Oh but a Sag would have no qualms. "You're strong, you can handle it" Ha! And he gambles. No taurus w a scorpio rise would gamble!
